I see you. I see your posts and messages. I see your concern about homeschooling and being a "teacher."
So many of you have reached out asking for help and advice.
I am one of those homeschool moms who actually went to college to be a teacher. Not only do I have an education background, but I have 15 years of homeschooling experience. I can most definitely speak on this topic!

Homeschooling comes from the heart, From a place of love, concern, and compassion for your child. NO one knows your child like you do. NO ONE will champion the needs of a particular child like a parent. There are many wonderful, caring teachers out there, but... the heart of a parent cannot be replaced.
I can honestly say that my "training" did not come from 4 1/2 years of college in education. My "training" came from experience, from understanding the way my own child learns. I taught them to eat, walk, talk. I potty trained them. I taught them to read. I provided an array of opportunities and experiences for the first five years of their life, why should I stop now?

One concern that you may be facing is the concern of "what if I don’t know how to teach". I can put that concern to rest! You CAN! You know your child. You know if they learn best by reading, hearing, or hands on. Take the material that is clearly lined out for you in the curriculum and teach it in the way they understand just like you would teach them a recipe, or anything else. Have fun learning and exploring together. I have learned SO many new things that I was never taught, just by teaching them to my own children.
You may have the concern that there are certain subjects that you aren’t good at. NO ONE is good at ALL subjects. The good thing is there are online classes, video curriculums, You Tube videos and more to help you. This is me with math! I am NOT good at it! SO...I hire someone who is, A math tutor teaches my children in my home weekly. Not even teachers are good at, or enjoy every subject. They key is to understand your child, and teach them how to find information they need.
You may be concerned that you won't accomplish enough -- I GUARANTEE you that you will cover as much or more with your own children, then they can accomplish in a room with 25 other students and 1 or 2 adults. And the fantastic thing is, you can work at their pace. If they are bored or have mastered certain material, you can move faster without waiting for other students to catch up. If they are struggling, you can slow down, and spend as much time as is needed focusing on what that child needs. You are able to tailor your day around their needs.
There are millions of happy, healthy, well adjusted, well rounded homeschoolers in the United States. The number jumps every year.

YOU CAN DO THIS, You love your child like no other. You will fight to make sure your child has everything they need to be successful. You have what it takes to give your child a wonderful well rounded, education. Their strengths, gifts, and passions can all shine bright under the your guidance.
I believe in the freedom of education. Whatever choice you make for your child...public school, private school, homeschool, unschool,,,will be the best, because YOU understand them best. But I NEVER want any momma to think they aren’t capable or enough, because you are. And the greatest gift you can give your child is you.
No fear. You’ve got this!
