Pure-fume and Natural Cologne
Sure, we all want to smell good. And heaven knows we want others to smell good. But today's perfumes and colognes are full of synthetic fragrances and chemicals. Do a quick search and what do you find? You find that perfumes contain phthalates and other harmful ingredients. Studies are starting to show that phthalates can contribute to health risks such as cancer, human reproductive and developmental toxicity, endocrine disruption, and birth defects. Chemicals in perfumes often contain allergens, hormone disruptors, asthma triggers and carcinogens. This is scary stuff, guys. And yet people wear it every.single.day.
Well guess what.
There is another option. A better option.

Personal Scent Blends
Let's start with the blends that can be used as a personal scent by themselves. You can apply these to your wrists, back of your neck or other pulse points. And just because I do not list it here, does not mean you can't use it as a personal scent. These are just a few! I also have short videos on each of these oils talking about why I love them.
Beautiful Touch - this one contains Osmanthus, Lime, Bergamot, and Frankincense. It's a bright, zesty, floral blend. The Lime and Bergamot create an uplifting smell that can energize, while Osmanthus and Frankincense are supportive.
Whisper Touch - Whisper is made from a combination of Patchouli, Bergamot, Sandalwood, Vanilla Bean Absolute, Rose, Jasmine, Cinnamon, Vetiver, Labdanum, Cocoa Seed, and Ylang Ylang. This one is known for combining with your chemistry to create a unique personal fragrance. It has a musky, warm, spicy, soft, and sweet aroma.
Hope Touch - Hope Touch is made from Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense, and Vanilla Bean Absolute. This one is known for its bright, fresh, sweet aroma. Passion Touch - This one contains Cardamom, Cinamon, Ginger, Clove, Sandalwood, Jasmine, Vanilla Bean and Damiana. It is spicy, warm, and rich. It creates feelings of excitement, passion, and joy. This is also a great one to counteract feelings of boredom and disinterest.
Jasmine Touch - This one is Jasmine with fractionated coconut oil. So if you like floral, warm, musky, and exotic then this one's for you! It can uplift moods and has a bonus benefit of reducing the appearance of skin imperfections.
Magnolia Touch - This one is just Magnolia with fractionated coconut oil. Magnolia has a fruity, floral, and balsamic scent. It can promote feelings of calm and relaxation. This one can also promote healthy looking skin. You can use this alone or try adding a few drops of Ylang Ylang or Bergamot to the roller bottle to customize the smell.
Sol No 3 Personal Aroma - If you want the smell of tropics this is a good choice. It has a floral and citrus scent. It contains Mandarin, Sandalwood, Davana, and Vanilla. This one comes in a spray bottle and was inspired by the magic and allure of Brazil.
Kintana - This one is a limited edition and is not always available for purchase. People LOVE it! It contains Ylang Ylang, Gardenia, Patchouli, and Vetiver. It was inspired by the beauty and nature of Madagascar and does not disappoint.
Create Your Own
Maybe none of the scents listed above appeal to you. Maybe you want your own unique scent. No worries! You can always create your own roller bottle or layer oils to create the scent that is perfect for you. My two favorite combos are Siberian Fir and Ylang Ylang and Frankincense and Balance. Don't know what layering is? Layering is when you combine your favorite scents to create a unique mixture. Sometimes people aim to include a Root Note, Heart Note, and Crown Note. But there is no hard and fast rule that you have to do this.
Root Note - This is usually a woody or earthy oil. They last longer and give depth. They typically will last 6 or more hours. Good root notes are Myrrh, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense, and Cedarwood.
Heart Note - Think grounding, gentle, and floral. This one usually lasts 20-60 minutes. It helps combine the other aromas. Some ideas here are Lavender, Jasmine, Geranium, Neroli, Peppermint, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, Rose, Blue Lotus, and Magnolia.
Crown Note - This is the most noticeable aroma, but the one that is the most short-lived. Usually just 5-15 minute. These are bright, distinct, and often citrus oils. Think Lime, Grapefruit, Orange, Bergamot, Spearmint, Lemongrass, and Petitgrain.
Here are some blends you can try. All of them are mixed in a 10 mL roller bottle. You put in the oils and then top with a carrier oil. These blends came from Helloglow.co.
Natural Colognes
Let's not forget the men. They need safe, natural scents as well. Some of these recipes are a blend of 20% oils and 80% carrier oils. If you want a stronger scent you can always up the ratio to 30% oils and 70% carrier oils. As with the women's scents, put the oils in a 10 mL roller bottle, then top it off with a carrier oil. It is usually best to let the mixture sit for 24 hours before using.
