Cinnamon - Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

Cinnamon. Chances are you cook with the powder form, add it to your oatmeal, maybe spice up some drinks with it. But are you aware of the health benefits of Cinnamon? And did you know that doTERRA produces PURE Cinnamon oil. Nothing added. Just Cinnamon in the bottle. Some companies will put Cassia in as a "filler." Not doTERRA. And while Cassia and Cinnamon are similar, they are different. Cassia is a close botanical relative, but smell both of them side-by-side and you will notice a difference.

Cinnamon (or Cinnamon Bark) has some wonderful benefits. Some of my favorites are its ability to support immunity and healthy blood sugar levels. It can also support healthy circulation and the health of the urinary tract and kidneys. When taken internally it can also support healthy metabolic function. Oh, did I also mention it can support the health of the gastrointestinal tract and is cleansing? So just to make it easy to see, here are some of the benefits of Cinnamon in a list.
- Immunity Support
- Healthy Blood Sugar Level Support
- Healthy Circulation Support
- Healthy Urinary Tract and Kidney Support
- Healthy Metabolic Function Support
- Healthy Gastrointestinal Tract Support
- Soothing to Irritated Throat
- Cleansing

Oh, and how about the fact that it is just plain delicious when added to drinks and recipes?
Cinnamon is a hot oil. That means whenever it is used topically it should be diluted with a carrier oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil.
Here is a short (less than 2 minutes!) video talking about some of my favorite uses and benefits of Cinnamon oil.
Let's talk about some specific uses of Cinnamon oil.
Uses of Cinnamon Oil
In a Veggie Cap - Many of the benefits of Cinnamon are achieved through internal use. One way to take it internally is to place two drops in a veggie capsule and swallow it down!
Irritated Throat - Have an irritated throat? Put a drop of Cinnamon oil in hot water or tea and drink it slowly.
Mouth Rinse - I mentioned it was cleansing. This benefit can be enjoyed in personal use and household cleaning. To cleanse your mouth and leave it feeling fresh, place a drop in two ounces of water and gargle with it.
Gingerbread Body Sugar Scrub - This little DIY could make a great friend gift.
Cleaning Spray - Love the smell of Cinnamon? Why not clean with it? Put 2-3 drops in a spray bottle of water and white vinegar and use it to clean surfaces. (This is why you'll find it in doTERRA's On Guard cleaning products.)
Achy Joints - Do your joints predict the weather better than the local news station? Dilute Cinnamon oil with Fractionated Coconut Oil and then massage it into your joints for a warming massage.
Holiday Smells - Cinnamon is the perfect oil to diffuse during the holidays. Try it with oils like Douglas Fir or Wild Orange. Or try some of these diffuser blends.

Cinnamon Pine Cones - Another way to get the smell of Cinnamon in your home for the holidays, is by making these Cinnamon Pine Cones.

Bugs Be Gone - Cinnamon has some properties that make it a natural repellant. Try adding it to your natural repellant, or try some of the mixes found in this blog post.
